In 2013 the quinoaproject site was born as part of Sarah's directed research project in the Indigenous Studies department at UBCO.
The quinoa journey began much earlier (2009) when Jedidiah Wiebe and Sarah Lecouffe Axtell started eating their home-grown quinoa. The earth and climate of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada has proven to be favourable grounds for growing this Andean crop. Over the years they aim to create a landrace or traditional variety of quinoa suited to the region.
For this reason they are pleased to be part of creating the first quinoa forum where quinoa knowledge and practices can be documented and exchanged. Contribute to the growing project by visiting the site and joining the forum - we will all learn so much more with your participation!
Why support the Project?
Heres why....
We love quinoa and think its an honorable plant worth spreading to those hungry for a beautiful delicious nutritious meal. The yearly costs of running the quinoa project are: 30$ web hosting, and countless hours managing and researching on the web and in the field. Oh and of course we have fun along the way! Please support the project. If ten people donate 3$ we can continue to host the website and develop the forum more. All the best, Sarah and Jed.
